4 PRIME REASONS YOU MUST BUY THE IPAD MINI

The revolutionary Apple Inc. has announced its latest invention Apple iPad Mini, which is a minor version of the fruit company’s popular tablet iPad.

4 PRIME REASONS YOU MUST BUY THE IPAD MINI

The new iPad Mini is the smaller, thinner and lighter device than its bigger version,The iPad. The iPad Mini was announced on Tuesday. It has imbibed all the amazing features of the iPad but is available in smaller, thinner and lighter form. It has a 7.9” display screen with 1024 x 768 pixels resolution, powered by an A5 processor, has a 5 MP camera, 720p HD Facetime camera, 16GB memory and the Lightning port. It starts at 329 USD for 16GB Wi-Fi version, $429 for 32GB Wi-Fi version, $529 for 64 GB Wi-Fi version. It hit the markets on November 2nd. Here are 4 best reasons why you must buy this device.

  1. Consider the weight: Movies, video files sure play good on your full sized iPad, but the 1.5 pound device sometimes might not be good for carrying in your backpack or suitcase. If that is the case then iPad Mini comes to your rescue. The iPad mini weighs just 0.68 pounds and it will surely take away some weight and place off your backpack or travel suitcase.
  2. If you like photography: One major disadvantage with tablets is the lack of a camera on the rear and you have to sacrifice those cravings for clicking photographs. With iPad Mini you do not have to go through those painful moments. It has a 5 MP camera on the rear.
  3. For iCloud surfer-The best thing about iCloud is users can sync notes, apps, itunes purchases, anything and everything across Apple devices. If you are acquainted with the OS of Apple through other devices then iPad mini can bring convenience to all the members of the family.
  4. If reading is your hobby: If you love reading books a lot and that too at the comfort of your couch then iPad mini is good for you. Unlike, its big brother the iPad with 9.5” screen and retinal display which could be clunky amidst turning the page, the iPad mini with 7.9” screen makes it best for reading e books.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE IPAD MINI AND THE IPAD 3

Apple Inc is the leading tablet and smart phone maker. With the latest offerings of tablets this fruit company stands tall at number one and wins with no competition. This company has iPhones, iPods, iPads and laptops. It has recently launched the iPad mini which is a smaller version of the iPad. There are 3 iPads to date, but this latest edition iPad mini has a lot of features, easy to use and smaller in size. If you are confused between choosing the iPad 3 or the iPad mini then here is comparison for you.

1. Screen-When the screen is the comparison topic then iPad wins over iPad mini. The screen resolution of the mini is 1024 x 768 pixels and iPad 3 is 2048 x 1536. Screen size of iPad 3 is 9.7” and iPad mini has 7.9”. However the picture quality of iPad mini is far better than the iPad 3.

2. Design and structure- iPad mini is modest when compared to iPad 3. It is more convenient to handle iPad mini as it is thinner and smaller and so effortless to manage it when compared to iPad 3. The iPad mini is humble in its structure and design when compared to the other smart phones and previous iPads. iPad mini is 53% lighter when compared to iPad 3. The lightning port inclusion could be a drawback to the mini especially if users have many iPad accessories, but then again it is personal preference. When form is considered both the iPad and iPad mini are bang on.

3. Camera-When coming to the camera both have a 5 MP primary camera with 2592×1944 pixels. However there is not much of a fight as to which one is better in terms of a camera because tablets are not primarily for clicking pictures like phones. But with the small size of iPad mini can be taken as a big Smartphone when clicking a picture.

 4. Memory and OS-The operating system of both the devices are same with iOS 6 and the memory is 16, 32, 64 GB internal memory and 1 GB RAM for both the devices. Both the devices have dual core A5 processor and same battery life. But there is minor difference in its key functioning. iPad mini supports 4G and so it is very fast.

So, based on the above specifications Mini is something you can easily use at home owing to its small size, weight. It can be held comfortably for a long time. The pricing also makes it good choice to buy. It has good storage capacity and unless you want a tablet with a large screen then the iPad mini is the best choice among all the ones available in the market and best of all it comes from the legendary Apple Inc.

HOME PHONES VERSUS THE CELL PHONE

The world’s first phone was invented by Graham Bell in 1875. It had very limited features. Bell laboratories introduce cell phone technology to the world for the first time in 1947 and then Motorola followed the application this application to portable devices. Be it the cell phone or home phone they have changed the World. They have eased communication. However, these days cell phones are increasing in number and are becoming alternative to home phones. Cell phones have clear advantage over the home phones or the land phones, but land phones offer their share of features and mental peace to people which the cell phones do not. Here are some aspects in which both phones differ.HOME PHONES VERSUS THE CELL PHONE

Features

Land phones are limited in features when compared to mobiles. Landlines offer multiple connections that are reliable but they are only good for businesses. On the other hand cell phones are good for business and social life. They offer many features like emailing, texting, video calls, weather reports, stock market news and many more.

Communication Ease

Cell phones and home phones differ in providing communication ease. Cell phones are small portable devices that you can carry anywhere and talk on the phone wherever there is signal coverage. On the other hand land phones are fixed to one particular location to make calls. There is also difference between the two in terms of charges for long distance calls. Most of the mobile carriers offer long distance calls free of charge whereas landlines service providers usually charge for them. But one advantage with landline is that they pose no risk of call disconnection due to bad network coverage unlike cell phones.

Recreation

A phone’s basic function is voice calls and it is a form of entertainment when you talk with someone you enjoy talking to. But a cell phone is device that provides more entertainment than just talking. It has feature that are loaded for playing music, videos, e-books, internet browsing etc. Cell phones are a clear form of entertainment when compared to land phones.

Bills

Both land phones and cell phones needs to be subscribe monthly and the cost depends on the features used and the carrier. Discounted rates are available for both the types of phones. But these days when the family decides to cut on the expenses especially on phone bills, they opting to cut the costs on home phones.

Mental peace

The most important aspect of a phone is the ability to call people and when in emergency to dial 911. But when the case is about reliability of a phone, land phone wins over mobile phone. This is for many reasons. A cell phone may run out of battery or signal and disrupt in bad weather conditions. But a land phone stands on the contrary need not be charged or need a signal. Additionally a land phone has a fixed address unlike the mobile phone so it is easy for emergency responders to locate a 911 call if it is a landline.

Health issues

There are health issues concerning the use of a cell phone. They could have health effects like ear and brain tumors. Cell phones send data through electromagnetic waves which cause electromagnetic radiation. These radiations can cause tumors in the brain and elsewhere. However land phones do not possess any such risk.

This are the aspects in which the two phones differ, some support use of land phones while the others support mobile phones.

NOKIA LUMIA 820 REVIEW

The new Nokia Lumia 820 is a 4G smart phone powered by the Windows 8 OS. It is not a phone that sets your world on fire but it some great aspects that will grab your attention. The following are its Pros and Cons and its features in detail.
NOKIA LUMIA 820 REVIEW

nokia lumia 820

Pros
  • Dual core processor allows faster mobile browsing
  • Expandable memory of up to 32 GB with microSD cards
  • Wireless charging feature
  • New Windows 8 OS from Microsoft
  • 4.3” huge screen display
  • 8MP High resolution camera
  • 4G network
  • NFC
  • Nokia’s additional apps and services are worth having

Cons

  • Innovative technology like Pureview technology is missing
  • Features and specs are only mid range
  • Design is downgraded
  • Thick and heavy
  • Low battery life

Features

The Nokia Lumia 820 has a luxurious build. What is so exciting about this phone is that the covers which are made of tough material can be swappable. When you handle the phone for the first time you will hardly believe you can change the cover because it is fits so snugly against the phone. However, these covers are expensive. Behind the cover is the swappable battery and Micro SD slot. This is the first time a windows 8 phone has expandable memory and this feature is very much welcomed.

This phone is thick and heavier than other mid range phone especially its competitors, the Android smart phones. It is robust and heavy and looks like a phone the age where cutting edge technology was only a distant vision.

Lumia 820 is visible in wide range of colors and since you can change the covers you do not have to carry the same colored phone with you everyday. You can match it with your mood or dress.

The 4.3” screen is bit smaller than Lumia 920 and Samsung galaxy S3, making it easier to hold with one hand and operate it easily. This phone has good button placement. Power switch and the volume switch are on the right side of the phone with the camera button below them, head phone jack is at the top of the handset. All these features make it easier to operate this phone easily.

Software

Lumia 820 runs on the latest Microsoft OS, Windows 8. It has a different fell when compared to iOS and Android OS’s. It has home screen filled with colorful tiles, 3D effects and transitions that gives a contemporary and Intuitive feel. However, the software is slow when the apps are opened and windows need to pace up in this issue. The tiles on the home screen represent the different apps on the phone, they can be resized. People’s Hub is the best feature of Windows 8 phone.

It pulls all your contacts from twitter, Facebook, LinkedIN, email and phone to one place. So, you can view their contact number, email id and also their posts on social networks when you click the tab “what’s new”. Nokia Apps The Lumia 820 has additional Nokia apps that you cannot find in a non-Nokia Windows phone.

Some pre installed apps are Nokia Drive that offers voice guided navigation, Nokia music app that has very broad music genres and allows you to stream the playlists. There is also augmented reality app called “City Lens” which uses GPS and phone’s compass and gives you info of the train stations, hotels, restaurants etc. However the range of app that are available from Windows App market is very less when compared to the Apple apps and Android apps.

Performance and Battery

Lumia 820 has a 1.5 GHz snapdragon dual core processor that is very quick in performance, paired with 1 GB RAM, has 8GB in built memory which can be expanded up to 64 GB with Micro SD cards. Apps cannot be stored on these cards, but you can store music files, movies, photos, documents etc. Microsoft offer 7GB Skydrive cloud storage apace, for storing stuff like photos, documents on web. The Lumia 820’s battery can be removed unlike Lumia 920. It is a lithium ion battery with 1650 mAh. If you are a heavy phone user then you will find the battery power draining very fast, so you have to keep it charging often.

Screen

The Lumia 820’s screen in some ways a disadvantage for Nokia. Its pixels are so low and lacks the sharpness that can be found in cheaper phone. Even cheaper phones have small display but high resolution. It is a little disappointing with the Lumia 820’s screen resolution. However, the screen brightness is good. All thanks to the OLED technology. The screen sensitivity is good and you can even use it when you wear gloves while you are operating the phone, you just have to set the sensitivity levels to high.

Camera

The drawback with Lumia 820 when you compare it to Lumia 920 is, it lacks Pureview technology, however the camera has very impressive camera. It has 8MP primary camera with Carl Zeiss Lens and dual LED flash that clicks great pictures even in poor lighting conditions. There is also a front facing camera with 1.3 MP resolution which is great for video calling. You can click high quality pictures even in indoors. Cool apps like “Smart Shot” which takes a series of photos and allows you to remove unwanted people from the background. You can record videos of 720 p and 1080 p.

Conclusion

The Noka Lumia 820 has lot of good things about it like the swappable covers, good camera and the new Windows 8 OS. However it also has downside to it like the battery life and the screen. For the same price you can get a Android Smartphone with lots more apps. It costs 360 pounds or a 25Conclusion pounds per month contract. It is not a basic phone though and has some great features . So, if you want a Windows 8 phone and are not bothered by its weight and comparatively higher price, then Nokia Lumia 820 is a good option for you as it is the only Windows phone with a micro SD card slot.

Which is best WordPress or Blogger platform

Today i’m going to tell you why so many people prefer WordPress over Blogger.

As i told you in my previous blog post, if you are new to blogging better you need to start your blogging journey with Blogger. But after some point of time if you want to become professional blogger or you want some change in blogging then better you need to move to WordPress.

I was blogging using the blogger but after i learnt so many things from blogger, i felt like let me try WordPress once, let me host my site on paid service. I had read so many reviews on WordPress  its one of the top blogging platform. So i choose WordPress as publishing platform.

The major advantages of WordPress over blogger are:

1) You will have full control on SEO (search engine optimization).

2) You will get lots of beautiful themes, you really love them.

3) WordPress has got large number of plugins, plugin are the one which acts as extra service for Eg: adding Facebook button, subscribe buttons, floating images, lazy loading blog post etc… like this vast number of plugins are available in its own dedicated server. All you need to do is just download and install it. simply activate and use them.

4) The user interface of WordPress is awesome, it has got interface like Mac OS.

5) Major advantage is you can edit the URL of the post which you are going to publish i.e called as permalink.

6) Here in WordPress everything is ready-made  you just have to install and use, hardly code changes are required in your PHP template.

7) WordPress platform is free, you can install and use it on any hosting server. Even i was very new to WordPress when i started for the first time, now i have learnt few things about WordPress  in my next blog i will share more about how to set up WP blog and other stuffs.

How To Charge a Laptop Battery

I get asked all the time what is the best way to charge a laptop battery. There are many schools of thought on this but I will explain what the best battery manufacturers have told me. First, when you receive a battery, it will not have a full charge.

The reason for this is that the Lithium cells inside the battery pack are highly volitile and you do not want to transport the battery this way. When you install the battery, you can do two things. You can either charge it up overnight and then drain it down completely or you can drain it completely and then charge it up fully for 8-12 hours.

I am not sure there is a difference between the two but most manufacturers say you should do this three times when you get your new battery. Lithium batteries are only good for about 300-500 charges. In my experience though, they seem to last longest when you charge up the battery fully and drain it fully once a week. As mentioned earlier though, do not leave the battery fully charged if you plan to store it for a while. You may leave it in your laptop while plugged in but you should drain it at least once a week for maximum usability.

Right Gaming Computers: Is yours up to the mark?

A study tells us that twenty percent of American adults and two hundred and seventeen million people across the world play many games over the internet. These days, rather than soccer and basketball, people love playing games online and it has become a regular hobby for many. As each day ends, so does the popularity of the game increases. In case you play games on your personal computer, then it is necessary that you should have the right gaming laptop or computer to enjoy your gaming experience. So, when you buy a laptop or computer, you need to keep in mind a few points. Read on to know what they are.
Right Gaming Computers
The Processor
Well, every gamer expects a good speed. You wouldn’t want your computer getting freezed or slowed down when you are playing a game. So, for an improved speed, you will have to buy a dominant and high speed processor. Any quad core processor which has the required level of capacity is powerful enough to help run your game easily and will also allow you to run some other applications at the same time. If you wish to know some powerful players which generate high speed processors, then I would suggest 2 big players to you – Intel and AMD. The top brand processors of Intel which are appropriate for gaming thing are i5 and i7. And, the top brand processors of AMD which are appropriate for gaming thing are the AMD Phenomenon II series. They are known as one of the best for Personal Computers which are used for gaming.
The RAM
This is another element which you should consider. For proper functioning, a gaming PC requires 2GB. But, with 2GB RAM, you can’t expect much. It produces an average performance. So, it would do well if you have a RAM of 4GB. For a good gaming experience with high speed, I would recommend you to have a RAM of 8GB or 12GB. So, the higher the Ram, the enhanced your gaming experience.
The Motherboard
For the smooth running of any game on your PC, you require a good motherboard. It is the centerpiece of your Personal Computer, where all your computer apparatuses are incorporated. Also, it sees to it that all equipments and spare parts run well in a well-organized way. The best suggestions that I can give you for motherboard is from HP, IBM and Dell. All these brands generate good quality motherboards and will help your game to run smoothly.
The Hard Drive
It is also one of the most important elements of your gaming PC. So, your gaming experience will be good if your hard drive has more space. If you have very less space in your hard drive, your computer gradually becomes slow and will thus not allow you to enjoy your gaming experience. In all gaming computers, there are primary and secondary storage. The primary storage helps in loading things at a faster space and the secondary storage stores your game data and other files.

Dell Ships XPS 13 Ubuntu Linux Ultrabook

Ubuntu Linux laptops seem to be all the rage right now. I just wrote about System76 releasing a new Ubuntu Linux laptop and now it seems that Dell has jumped on the bandwagon as well. After tinkering with the final product for months, Dell has finally started shipping the new thin-and-light XPS 13, which comes with the Ubuntu Linux 12.04 LTS, code-named Precise Pangolin.

Dell Ships XPS 13 Ubuntu Linux Ultrabook

This laptop was developed as a part of an internal project from Dell known as "Project Sputnik". Over the course of six months, Dell worked with the open-source community in order to develop tools, drivers and software for the OS to work with XPS 13, which has a similar frame to an Ultrabook. The new XPS 13 comes with an Intel Core i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB hard drive.

There is also a 13" screen, though no information has been released about the overall weight or battery life. Dell has begun selling the XPS 13 for a base price of $1,549 with one year on-site support as a package deal. That is a little pricier than Dell's currently available XPS 13 with Windows 8, priced at $999.

Dell describes the new XPS 13 with Ubuntu as a developer edition, though also mentioned that it will sell the product to enterprises and consumers as well. According to Vice President of Dell Cloud Nnamdi Orakwue, "The XPS 13 with Ubuntu gives developers the essentials they want while staying true to our core values of openness and affordability." The joint development of the laptop has led to some new features that are unique to this particular laptop.

One of those is called the "Profile Tool", which allows developers to easily set up software development environments through quick access to tools for Ruby, JavaScript and Android in the github repositories. Even though this isn't the first laptop or netbook to come from Dell with Ubuntu Linux, it is one that the company has much bigger plans for. Usually Dell provided install images of the Ubuntu OS, but has not collaborated with the open-source community on a wide scale. Dell is committed to open source, and development around Linux and the laptop will continue, according to the company.

World's First Wireless Ultrabook Docking Station Released by Dell

Dell recently announced that availability of the new Dell Wireless Dock, the fist docking station in the industry to be based on the multi-gigabit Tri-Band WiFi standard WiGig. The new wireless docking station is compatible with Dell's Latitude 6430u Ultrabook and currently sells for $249. According to Vice President of Dell's Commercial PC Group Kirk Schell, "We are proud to introduce the Dell Wireless Dock, the industry's first and only WiGig dock that is the result of a five-year-long leadership effort.

World's First Wireless Ultrabook Docking Station Released by Dell

WiGig represents a new era in wireless connectivity and a shift in the way enterprises and consumers will experience connectivity and interact with their devices in the future." This new WiGig standard can offer speeds of up to 10 times that of the fastest WiFi networks of today. At CES last month, semiconductor maker Wilocity, along with Qualcomm, announced the first multi-gigabit wireless chipset reference architecture based on the new WiGig 60GHz and IEEE 802.11ad standards for high-speed downloads, docking and networking.

The design created by Qualcomm and Wilocity delivers tri-band WiFi, which allows consumers to connect to 60GHz-enabled devices, docks, displays and storage at multi-gigabit speeds while also maintaining enterprise-wide or home coverage using 2.4GHz/5GHz WiFi. This specific docking station from Dell is targeted at offices, meeting rooms and classrooms due to the fact that it offers fast, simple connectivity to displays, projectors, networks, speakers and other peripherals. In addition to that, Dell also said that the docking station has the potential to offer added functionality, like wireless backups, synchronization and file transfers between computers and handheld devices.

This dock supports up to two external displays with both DisplayPort and HDMI connectivity and features peripheral connectivity via three USB 3.0 ports. In addition to that, it also offers voice over IP connectivity through a front audio in/out port at speeds of up to 4.6Gbps.

The Dell Wireless Dock can also be managed with the updated Dell ControlPoint Connection Manager, which also includes both WiGig and Wireless LAN settings. Also, an adapter is available for VGA-based hardware while an Ethernet connector is designed to ensure dedicated, stable bandwidth for fast data transfers and efficient communication with remote locations.

Samsung Reboots Series 9, Raises Questions About Absent Retina-like Display

Samsung recently released a new version of its high-end Series 9 Ultrabook, this time with a little higher price tag. However, Samsung still seems unready to go toe to toe with Apple's fancy Retina display style. The Retina display was Apple's newest draw to consumers when it added the technology to the most recent versions of the MacBook and iPad.

Samsung's new version of the Series 9 replaces the previous 1,600 x 1,200 resolution display with a 13" 1080p panel instead. In addition to that, this laptop comes with double the amount of solid state storage than the previous model with 256GB.

The specs of the new Series 9 are pretty much the same as the previous model. Hardware consists of an Intel Core i7 processor, Intel HD 4000 graphics, 4GB of RAM, two USB ports (one of which is USB 3.0) and an SD card slot. Measurements for the laptop come in at 0.51" thick with the entire device weighing in at 2.65 lbs.

The real downside here is that this thin, light and high-resolution laptop comes at a pretty high price tag: $1,900. That is $500 more than Samsung's current 13" Series 9, which is priced at $1,400. The surprising thing here isn't the price hike but more the fact that Samsung hasn't included a display similar to Apple's Retina.

In fact, no other PC maker, including Samsung, has managed to put a display like the Retina into their laptops. The whole term "Retina" display was derived by Apple and refers to displays whose individual pixels are indistinguishable to the human eye when viewed at normal viewing angles and distances.

The Chromebook Pixel is the only device on the market to come close to the display style since Apple released the MacBook Pro model with the Retina display last year. However, that doesn't mean that companies are not considering it.

At the IFA trade show in Berlin back in August, Samsung debuted a Series 9 prototype with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The problem is that putting a screen like that in a device with the sleek design of the Series 9 raises battery life concerns and would increase the overall cost even more, which could explain why Samsung hasn't gone further with that version of the Series 9.

Maybe when Intel releases its Haswell processors things will change. These processors are said to add significant battery life improvements over the current Ivy Bridge chips, which would essentially solve one of the biggest concerns for Samsung and other companies.

Unknown Computer Manufacturer Inhon Unveils Worlds Thinnest Laptop

Inhon, a Taiwanese computer maker unveils Blade 13 Carbon laptop, and claims it is now the world's lightest and thinnest. Weighing just 1.9 pounds (870g) and measuring 10.7mm thick, the company says it is thinner than NEC's 12.8mm LaVie X by a whole 2mm, while under weighing the 875g LaVie Z by 5g. The specs of the Blade 13 Carbon are a Core i5 or i7 CPU, 1080p screen, 128GB or 256GB SSD and 4GB of RAM. If you are looking for that amount of power in a small package, the Carbon is cheaper costing $1,350, while a less attractive 1,600 x 900 fiberglass version (12.6mm and 2.6 pounds(1,195g) will run a grand or so. The models should be available in Taiwan around June, There is no indication that the thinner lighter laptop will be available in the United States.

How to Differ DDR3 from DDR2 Memory

The most obvious factor on how to differ DDR3 from DDR2 memory is appearance. But, that is not as simple as it might seem. Unless you can find the specific reference on the memory stick, you will need to look at the key notch. Along the bottom of the memory stick, 240 pins insert into the motherboard. Among the pins is a notch. That notch prevents inserting the wrong type of memory into an incompatible slot. Looking from the top side, the notch on the DDR2 lies slightly to the right of the middle point of the memory stick. On the DDR3, the notch is slightly to the left of the middle.
How to Differ DDR3 from DDR2

DDR2 memory sticks do not fit into the slots for DDR3 sticks or vice versa. One reason why many manufacturers have been slow to adopt the newer DDR3 technology is because there is no backwards compatibility between the two. You cannot use a DDR3 when you do not have an appropriate slot in the motherboard for it. Some newer motherboards come with the ability for both types of memory to work. However, it is important to know how to differ DDR3 from DDR2 memory before you purchase it.
What else makes these memory sticks different? Transfer speed on DDR3 is double that of the DDR2. Transfer rates on DDR2 range from 400 to 800 Mbps. On the DDR3, the range is 800 to 1600 Mbps. The DDR2 has four internal banks of memory while the DDR3 has eight. The DDR2 does 4-bit prefetch and the DDR3 does 8-bit prefetch. The DDR2 uses more voltage than the DDR3 does. The DDR2 runs with 1.8V while DDR3 runs with 1.5V. DDR3 memory has a slightly higher latency than the DDR2. There are other technical differences between the two as well.
Currently, there is another significant way on how to differ DDR3 from DDR2 memory. The price is higher for the DDR3 memory sticks. Prices have continued to drop ever since the DDR3 came on the market a few years ago. However, the DDR2 sticks are still lower in price. But, newer motherboards are pushing the prices down on DDR3. The demand for the newer technology is starting to grow as higher memory requirements come into play with faster motherboards and chipsets. However, with the newer DDR4 technology planned for a 2012 release, the future of the DDR3 is still in question.

Deciding On A New Laptop Computer

If you are tired of being tied down to a desk when you want to work or play on your computer, or are ready for a laptop that is even more portable than the one you have, maybe it's time to start looking for cheap laptops on sale. This article can help you do that by pointing out some of the benefits of lower cost laptops versus more expensive models. Expensive large versions of laptops may not seem so portable after awhile. A smaller one that costs a lot less can give you that feeling of true portability. Don't be fooled into thinking that because you can find a variety of cheap laptops on sale, that they can't do everything you need it to do. Here are some things you should know before making a purchase.

Memory

It is true that cheaper laptops may have limited memory, especially compared to desktops or higher priced portables. Low memory can affect the performance of a computer so this is not an area where you want to pinch pennies. If you buy a computer that comes with Windows Vista, be sure that it has at least 2GB of memory. However, if your laptop is going to be used mostly for Internet access and email rather than running complicated applications, you'll be fine with Windows XP and, therefore, less memory, like 1GB.

Graphics

Graphics can be an important aspect for people who are avid gamers and most cheap laptops on sale don't have the dedicated graphics chips required to make gaming the experience it should be. Most will come with affordable integrated graphics that work great for basic things like running Microsoft Office tools, email, and puttering around on the Internet. If this is how you will use your laptop, then the standard graphics in the lower priced models will be plenty. Some budget laptops come with lower-end dedicated chips that might make a casual gamer happy.

Processor

Many cheap laptops on sale are equipped with processors like Intel's Core Duo or Core 2 Duo. These are actually better processors than those that came in some older model laptops and they give you longer battery life, stronger performance, and they run cooler. Opting for lower clock speeds can save you money when shopping for cheap laptops on sale.

Other Options and Brands to Look For

Cheap laptops on sale come in a variety of sizes, weights, and colors. Just because you are looking for a bargain, doesn't mean you can't find reliable brand names for a laptop. Check out Amazon.com and you can find well-known names like Gateway and Toshiba that both have a variety of lower-cost models. No need to shy away from names you don't know like Acer and ASUS. Read the customer reviews and you'll discover that they offer everything that the other brands do.
